CBC moved its operations to a new building last fall, but had been creating radio, TC, and online content at the site for the prior 60 years.

Anthem has plans to turn the area into a townhome community, harnessing the riverfront location for panoramic views of the water.

“We are pleased with the acquisition of the former CBC/Radio-Canada site and our proposal to develop high-quality townhomes in the Hillhurst-Sunnyside neighbourhood,” said Eric Carlson, CEO of Anthem, in the release.

“Anthem is committed to Calgary as a core market for its diversified portfolio of residential and commercial properties. We see Alberta as a strong alternative to Toronto and Vancouver for businesses and families.”

The group is currently going through the approval process with the City of Calgary to get the proper permits for redevelopment.
