Alberta parents heartwarming story to adopt second child with Down syndrome

Alex and Holly Graham are the adoptive parents to two-year-old Jaxson who was born with Down syndrome.

The Grahams adopted Jaxson when he was six weeks old and say “he has brought us more joy than we could have ever imagined.”

Now the Alberta couple from Medicine Hat is looking to expand their family of 3 to include a sibling for Jaxson. A caveat, the child must have Down syndrome as well.

To help offset the cost of an adoption and to help take care of another child with a disability they have set up a GoFundMe page titled, “$1 ADOPTION” in hopes to raise ten thousand dollars.

“While our hearts and home are ready for another child, adoption is expensive, and as we have learned, so is raising a child with a disability. While we are so fortunate to live in a country with free healthcare where most of his services are provided to us at no cost, it still seems like there are huge expenses around every single corner. We also strive to give Jaxson the absolute best when it comes to therapies and learning experiences, which means that has to come from our single income pocket.”

Alex and Holly say that they are asking only for one dollar from anyone who wants to donate adding, “While $1 seems like nothing, it is everything to us.”
