Following the death of a 15-year-old, a teenage boy has been charged with murder in the first degree.

Last Wednesday, November 15, a 15-year-old boy identified by police as Leslie Sun Walk was assaulted and killed in front of a home in Calgary’s Marlborough Park neighbourhood.

A suspect was taken into custody on the scene, and on Tuesday, November 21, the Calgary Police Service announced in a release that charges have been laid against a 16-year-old boy.

The suspect initially taken into custody last Wednesday is not the same person as the 16-year-old boy who was charged on Tuesday.

The youth, who can not be named due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was arrested on Monday, November 20, and was charged with first-degree murder the following day.

Police say that the accused and Sun Walk knew each other, and that the incident was not random in nature.
