What: Bring heart healthy donations and watch the holiday lit CP train. There are two trains that start off from the Montreal area, one is making its stop in Calgary, along the way the trains will visit roughly 150 communities.
Where: Anderson C-Train Station – South C-Train parking lot
What: See your local Etsy shops and get some Christmas shopping in without having to pay shipping fees while you’re at it. You can also create your own custom ornaments at the Do-It-Your-self Crafting Stations.
Where: Foothills Centennial Centre – 4 204 Community Way, Okotoks
What: Incredible lights illuminate the Calgary Zoo in almost every colour imaginable. Along with beautiful scenery you can skate on their skating rink, visit Santa, do kids activities and watch the Calgary Zoo’s new interactive light display.
Where: Calgary Zoo – 1300 Zoo Road NE, Calgary
When: Now until Saturday, January 2 from 6 to 9 p.m.
Cost: $14 for general admission, $11 for children, and $5 for parking.
What: Get into the spirit of Christmas by taking a wagon ride, singing carols and visiting Santa. Perhaps decorating gingerbread cookies or visiting the petting zoo is more your style, there are plenty of activities to do at this ongoing traditional Christmas event.
Where: Heritage Park – 1900 Heritage Drive SW
When: Now until Sunday, December 20 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Cost: $10.50; $8.25 Senior (65+); $6.50 Youth ( 7 to 14); $5.25 Child (3 to 6) and free for ages 2 and under
What: Be whisked away on the Polar Express where passengers will get to drink hot chocolate, eat treats and listen to the motion picture’s sound track. Passengers on the train are encouraged to wear pajamas.
