Here are some of the top events to check out in Calgary this week, September 14 to 18.

Calgary Flames Celebrity Charity Golf Classic

  • What: The 35th anniversary of the golf tournament will present fantastic food and beverages, prizes, golfing and your favourite Calgary Flames players, coaches and management. All proceeds go to the Flames Foundation For Life.
  • Where: Country Hills Golf Club and The Hamptons Golf Club
  • When: Tuesday, September 15 at 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Justice Film Festival: Antarctic Edge: 70° South

  • What: A chilling journey to the bottom of the Earth alongside a team of dedicated scientists.
  • Where: Marda Loop – River Park Church Auditorium – 3818 14A St SW
  • When: Tuesday, September 15 at 7 p.m.
  • Cost: Free

Pop-Up Picnic

  • What: A fun Outdoor picnic that happens every other Wednesday in September. This weeks picnic is a Beakerhead edition featuring 4 presenters that will talk about their inventions and discoveries.
  • Where: 120 8 Ave SW, Calgary
  • When: Wednesday, September 16 from noon to 1 p.m.
  • Cost: Free

Beakerhead

  • What: Beakerhead combines together art and engineering and brings talent from far and wide to compete, build and exhibit interactive works of art. Beakerhead advances the understating of science and engineering as part of everyday life. Come immerse yourself and learn something new at their spectacular events.
  • Where: Various locations
  • When: Wednesday, September 16 to Sunday, September 20
  • Cost: Varies; most events are free

ILLUMINASIA garden and lantern festival

  • What: Come see authentic Chinese lanterns that will light up the zoo. There will also be authentic Chinese, Japanese and Indian entertainment and programs.
  • Where: Calgary Zoo – 1300 Zoo road NE, Calgary
  • When: Thursday, September 17 to Sunday, November 1
  • Cost: $24 for adults and $18 for children

Calgary Home and Design Show

  • What: Is the authority on all things design, entertaining and home improvement. There will be informative presentations and 350 exhibitors.
  • Where: BMO Centre – 20 Roundup Way SW, Calgary
  • When: Thursday, September 17 to Sunday, September 20
  • Cost: $16 for adults over 13 ($13 online), $13 for seniors over 60 ($10 online), and free for children 12 and under

Kraftwerk 3-D Concert

  • What: German electronic music pioneers Kraftwerk will hit Calgary this September as part of their North American tour. Come check out some futuristic beats at this one of a kind concert.
  • Where: Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium, Calgary
  • When: Thursday, September 17 at 8 p.m.
  • Cost: Varies

Calgary Stampeders

  • What: The Calgary Stampeders face the BC Lions.
  • Where: McMahon Stadium – 1817 Crowchild Trail NW, Calgary
  • When: Friday, September 18 at 7 p.m.

Lunch Box Theatre: What Gives?

  • What: A musical comedy about two 1930s Manhattan songwriters who are unexpectedly visited by a pair of adventuresses.
  • Where: Lunchbox Theatre – 115 9 Ave SE, Calgary
  • When: Now through to Saturday, October 3
  • Cost: $25

Theatre Calgary: The Shoplifters

  • What: A comedy about  a women named Alma who thinks that her discount is of the “five-finger” variety and when she gets caught by a security guard more is revealed.
  • Where: Max Bell Theatre – 220 9th Ave SE, Calgary
  • When: Tuesday, September 1 to Sunday, September 27
  • Cost: $35 and up
